- Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, known as the California Building Standards Code or just “Title 24” contains the regulations that govern the construction of buildings in California. Energy efficiency standards reduces energy costs, increases reliability and availability of electricity, improves building occupant comfort and reduces impacts to the environment making standards important and necessary for California’s energy future.
- During plan check, the local building department will require a Title 24 Energy report from architects, engineers and homeowners that plan to submit for residential and commercial new construction, alterations and additions. A Title 24 report verifies that the proposed building design complies with the California Title 24 energy standards.
